DeKalb County Schools is using a rap video on YouTube to promote safer practices during the coronavirus pandemic

With a background that includes colorful graphics, a puppet and dancing by teachers and band students, “Wave Them Bows” emphasizes substituting touching elbows for shaking hands or hugging as well as standing six feet apart to ensure adequate social distancing in face-to-face encounters.

The rappers in the roughly two-minute 30-second video also promote frequent handwashing.

“When you see someone you know and want to say hello, just Wave Them Bows!" DeKalb said in a Twitter link for the video.

The district said the video was made to remind the community to stay safe during the pandemic. DeKalb Schools has remained all-virtual so far this semester because COVID-19 cases in the county are almost double the acceptable number to offer students in-person instruction.
