An Atlanta fire station on Howell Mill Road will be temporarily closed for electrical repairs, the fire department said Wednesday.
“For the safety of our firefighters, the Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department is temporarily closing Fire Station 23 as we make critical repairs to the electrical system,” Chief Joel Baker said. “Repairs are expected to be complete in a month, and during this time we will continue to respond to emergencies in the area quickly and safely.”
Much of the wiring in the building, located at 1545 Howell Mill Road, dates back to the construction in 1948, Baker said. The station’s advanced life support units will be temporarily housed at Station 8 at 1711 Marietta Blvd.
