Police early Saturday evening made an arrest in fatal hit-and-run pedestrian acccident in northwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon said the incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. on Lindsay Street at Pelham Street.

A man in his 50s was critically injured, and later died, Lyon said.

A short time later, Johnette Jackson, 26, was arrested on a traffic stop for driving without a license, Lyon said.

He said investigators developed “some great leads” at the accident scene, “and tracked the vehicle and discovered their suspect was already incarcerated in the city jail.”

Police then charged Jackson with hit-and-run and homicide by vehicle.

The name of the man killed has not been released.
