A D.C. man has filed a lawsuit that manages to combine at least two hot-button national topics: fraternity hazing and police brutality.
There was at least one cane, one cop, some lotion and one middle-aged man involved, according to The Washington Post story.
Harry Draughn Jr., 45, is is suing Kappa Alpha Psi for more than $2 million, claiming he was hazed by a Prince George’s County police officer leading the fraternity’s membership intake for an alumni chapter of the organization.
Draughn claims he was beaten and smacked with a cane and ordered to perform tasks in his underwear during the intake process this year for the Hyattsville/Landover Alumni Chapter of the fraternity, according to court documents filed in Maryland Tuesday. They suit claims he and another candidate were also asked inappropriate personal questions about their sex lives and were told to rub lotion on a brother’s body.
The suit names the fraternity and one of the chapter’s intake chairmen, Jesse Stewart Jr., as defendants and identifies Stewart as a Prince George’s County police officer.
