Aaron Hernandez is hot.

The former NFL star convicted Wednesday of first degree murder apparently remains a desirable commodity, at least among memorabilia dealers and collectors. With a mandatory life without parole sentence, the Hernandez collection on is not likely to grow much.

A check of ebay just after the announcement showed more than 900 Hernandez items on the online block, mostly jerseys, cards and photos. There were multiple competing bids for some of the pieces.

Maybe the most intriguing item was a Hernandez card autographed with his nickname, Chico.

The price: $10,000.

The seller calls it “1 of 1 in the world” and “a piece of history.”

The seller adds that, “Now ‘Chico’ is his prison name he goes by and is feared by other inmates!”

Another item drawing bidders Wednesday morning was a blue New England Patriots Hernandez jersey. Child sized.

A lot of Hernandez jerseys were taken off the market after the tight end was arrested and charged with murder. The Patriots not only stopped selling the jerseys, but also offered to take back any that fans had in exchange for another player’s jersey. More than 1,200 fans took advantage of the plan, according to reports, costing the club $250,000.

One dealer, perhaps with a nod to the historical weight of the case, is offering Thursday, April 16, 2015 editions of The Boston Globe with the story on the guilty verdict for $7.99 a copy.

Still, Hernandez is nowhere near as popular as another former footballer who got in trouble — O.J. Simpson. There were more than 4,000 Juice-related items posted for sale on ebay Wednesday.

Among them, an “O J Simpson MURDER CRIME CARDS SET.”
