The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness Department first-ever Atlanta Regional Full-Scale Emergency Training Exercise was held on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023 on Fulton Industrial Boulevard at two nearby locations. Emergency responders from the City of Atlanta and five metro Atlanta counties – Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett all jointly participated in the daylong event Daylong that simulated a terrorist attack on a hotel. Firefighters trained at the Knights Inn located at 4253 Shirley Drive SW and the police at the Red Roof Inn 4430 Frederick Drive SW. Police and fire vehicles, SWAT teams, Hazardous materials crews, Search & rescue teams and Victim triage were all on hand during the event which saw 50-victim volunteers in realistic disaster scenarios and scenes.
