Invest Atlanta, which includes Mayor Andre Dickens as its board chair, will vote Thursday on a $15 million tax break Portman is seeking. (Courtesy of Invest Atlanta)

The tax break is to help cover the cost of preserving 39 of 539 apartments — about 7% of those units — at rents below market rate for 99 years. (Courtesy of Invest Atlanta)

Many area residents have been opposed to the project, saying it will create too much density and bring in much more traffic. (Courtesy of Invest Atlanta)
