Two people are in custody after an armed robbery at a Cobb County motel prompted a manhunt Thursday morning near Truist Park, authorities said.

Cobb police swarmed the Cumberland area about 6 a.m. after a woman said she was robbed at the Motel 6 near Windy Hill Road and Circle 75 Parkway. Officers were seen standing along the on-ramp to I-75 South as authorities searched the woods near the interstate.

The motel guest told officers she had just finished a date with a man when she was robbed at gunpoint by a second suspect at the entrance to her room, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk said. The second man stole cash and other items from the woman before leaving, Delk said.

One suspect was detained at the scene and the second man was arrested shortly before 8 a.m. following a search involving the department’s K-9 unit, authorities said.
