One of the more mundane, but necessary, city accomplishments Milton residents have come to appreciate are clean streets. Making that happen required the city council to approve a new agreement with Sweeping Corporation of America, Inc.

The recently approved $20,000 annual contract will allow Sweeping Corporation of America to sweep and remove debris on more than 47 miles of city streets, including main roads and state routes, four times a year (in January, April, July and October). The contract does not include subdivision roads.

Each quarter the contractor will be responsible for sweeping the approximately 47.22 curb miles of streets and any additional or emergency sweeping and debris removal services the city may designate. The agreement includes all materials, labor and equipment to complete the work.
