The Forsyth County Animal Shelter has called upon the community to fill two needs: Donating “gently used” blankets and towels, and volunteering to be “Foster Heroes.”

“While the shelter ended the year on a positive note having many of our animals go into forever homes, we also had both our dryers and washers break,” the shelter said in a Facebook posting.

Donations in plastic bags, to protect them from the weather, can be dropped off at the shelter’s main entrance, 4065 County Way, Cumming.

As for the need for pet fosters, “Whether you can give a few hours, a few days, or can devote a few weeks, there is an animal that can use your superhero skills,” the shelter said. Information: 678-965-7185, foster@forsythco.com or https://bit.ly/3oewWos
