Decatur’s Black Lives Matter street mural was a community undertaking.
The City Commission approved the the plan for the mural, with the words to be painted this weekend on North McDonough Street between Trinity Place and Howard Avenue, just behind the downtown square and in front of Decatur High School.
The three artists who designed the mural, Sharanda Wilburn, George F. Baker III and Petie Parker, received help from hundreds of community members, including stencils of the street-sized letters by artist Chris Wright, to get the Black Lives Matter painting project completed.
