Applications will be taken beginning Thursday, Sept. 10, for grants of up to $10,000 to small businesses in Cherokee County impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cherokee Office of Economic Development announced the Cherokee Low to Moderate Income Small Business Grant program, a $300,000 initiative that draws from Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act monies recently accepted by the county.

“It will provide assistance to local small businesses that meet certain salary requirements and can be used for ongoing operational costs such as payroll, vendors, utilities, rent and personal protective equipment,” COED said. A business must have 50 or fewer W2 positions, among other requirements.

The application portal will be open Sept. 10-30. Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Information: grantinfo@cherokeega.org or 770-528-4912 or https://www.cherokeega.org/grants
