Georgia Power Senior Vice President of Metro Atlanta and Corporate Relations Bentina Terry was recognized by Dress for Success Atlanta as a “2021 Woman of Power,” as part of their “Your Hour, Her Power” campaign.

Joe Veihman is the new boys basketball coach at Cherokee High School. He will teach social studies at Cherokee HS, which is the same subject he currently teaches at Sequoyah HS.

At the FCCLA State Competition on March 13, Kayce Davis, a sophomore at Fayette County High won first place in the FCCLA State Knife Skills competition. To win, one must examine and perform all aspects of culinary knife and classic knife skills, apply effective setup through lab practice, and demonstrate competency skills in many different knife cut techniques. Along with the gold medal, Davis was awarded the top cash prize of $100.

Norcross High School senior Moira Christ has been selected for the Congress Bundestag Scholarship - a fully funded eleven month program of study in Germany.

Oak Grove Elementary School Fine Arts Academy third-grade teacher Tammy Owen was selected by Discovery Education as a DEN STAR Educator, a program for top STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) teachers that offers them professional learning opportunities, and event kits containing resources to share with other educators.
