Sarah Jessica Parker pays tribute to fellow ‘Sex and the City’ actress who died
In an Instagram post Saturday, Sarah Jessica Parker paid tribute to her fellow “Sex and the City” actress who recently died.
Lynn Cohen, known for her role as Magda on the hit HBO show, died Friday, her representative told The Wrap. The 86-year-old actress also appeared in “The Hunger Games.”
In the Instagram post, Parker praised Cohen’s “talent, grace, inspiration.”
In the show, Cohen’s character was Miranda’s (Cynthia Nixon) nanny and housekeeper.
“Beautiful Lynn Cohen. Miranda's dear and necessary Magda. Our dear SATC colleague ... RIP,” Parker wrote.
“Sex and the City,” which ran from 1998-2004, starred Parker, Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis as four friends living in New York City. After its six-season run, there were two “Sex and the City” feature-length films.
Cohen was born in Kansas City in 1933.
In response to Parker’s post, fans praised Cohen for her role in the show.
“Loved her character and relationship with Miranda. So well played. RIP,” one commenter wrote.
“She was a amazing actress. I feel like she rivaled Bea Arthur in the best stare down. RIP,” said another.
Other actors remembered her on Twitter, including Jason Lewis, who played Samantha’s (Cattrall) love interest at the end of the show.

The great NY actor Lynn Cohen died today. I met her outside the Guthrie in Minneapolis on a sunny day in 1987, a moment I vividly recall. I thought she was cool. I saw her around regularly in NY over the next 20 years & finally worked with her in 2008. RIP, Lynn. You were awesome pic.twitter.com/YeO8vB0nlV
