Patio heaters a hot home accessory

Designer Shirley Alexandra Watts did away with the patio and basketball court in her clients' backyard to make way for a contemporary Plexiglas and aluminum "room."

Infratech's electric infrared heater, available at Authenteak, can be mounted on walls, poles or beams, tucked up under a canvas or awnings, and built into a ceiling or roof.

The tall hammered silver outdoor patio heater has a propane tank that lasts eight to 10 hours.

The tabletop quartz glass tube heater is 39 inches high and comes in a hammered bronze finish.

The Fire Sense pyramid flame heater, sold at The Home Depot, is available in stainless steel.
