2010 Spring Designer Show Home

The Save A Smile Foundation's 2010 Spring Show Home is Lions Gate, formerly owned by Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. The home is open to the public for tours May 8- May 30, 2010.

The Spring Designer Showcase is an annual benefit for the Save a Smile Foundation. This year's featured home is Lions Gate. Save a Smile founder Bruce Patterson said, "When we are looking for our showcase homes, we look for special houses with unique histories. When Tony Thevis approached us to feature his house, when knew we found the perfect home." The home has had its share of famous residents, including Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. The home is open for public tours through May 30, 2010.

Seen here is an overhead view of the beautiful spiral staircase. The goal was to update the Tudor style of the home and bring it into the 20th century. "We wanted it to seem less dated and have more of a timeless feel," Michael Faust of Faust Architecture said of the home's renovations.

Laura Bloom, who decorated the grand living room says, "Use organic earthly colors and compliment them with greens and terracotta shades to reflect a bit of spirit in the home."

Janet B. Prioleau of J. Prioleau Interiors, who designed the study and upstairs guest room says, "Use unique items in a room like pieces of art and gift boxes to add flair to a room."

Kristen Johnson with Johnson Designs and Interiors Inc. said that you should add pieces to a room that reflect a part of who you are as a person.

Pamela Goldstein, who designed the kitchen space says, "Find something that you love and use it as an inspiration in one of your spaces."

Pat Shankle, who designed the upstairs turret says, "I had two paintings done that reflected a pastoral scene put in the room to create a soothing effect in the room. It is also a way to bring the outdoors into a home."

Seen here is Edward Holifield of Edward Holifield by Design. He decorated the master bedroom with a focus on bringing the outdoors inside. "It will add beautiful organic elements into a room," says Holifield.

Shelia Jones of Delaney Interiors poses in a room she decorated. Her advice: "Keep it light. Use light colors, mix light colored woods with reflective surfaces."

Jessie LaFalce with Vanguard School of Interior Design, who decorated the upstairs girls and boy's room says, "Clean up the clutter. Reducing clutter helps to create clean lines."

"Use contrast in a room. You don't have to have matching end tables in a room to have it work. You can use contrasting fabrics and woods to create a pleasant effect in a room," says Janet B. Prioleau of J. Prioleau Interiors, about this guest bedroom she decorated.

Rachel Young of Liquid Design Studios says that when designing a room you shouldn't be afraid of using antique pieces with modern pieces. She uses an antique headboard in a guest room with modern pieces to add an eclectic feel to the home.

Edward Holifield of Edward Holifield by Design brightened up this balcony seating area by adding plants for a touch of greenery.

The home's outdoor area features a pool with a bridge, both featuring stone accents.
