It’s the second week of January, which means it’s time to kick off 2020’s Best of Atlanta voting.
Last year, we learned Atlantans love their burgers and barbecue and have strong feelings about their chicken wings. You’re proud of your ZIP code and your favorite dive bar.
» All the food, places and events you voted Best of Atlanta in 2019
The most popular categories last year involved food choice, with best burger having the most participation. Nearly 80,000 people voted in that poll, and 20% of them said Hobnob, with multiple locations, is tops in the area.
Nearly 60,000 people voted in the best barbecue poll, crowning Hattie Marie's the champion. Hattie Marie's Texas Style BBQ and Cajun Kitchen opened its doors in 2017 at 3699 Main St. in College Park.
But Best of Atlanta isn’t just about food. We’ll want to know your favorite spot for a first date, best music festival and where you go to boogie oogie oogie 'til you just can't boogie no more.
If you’re new to Atlanta or our Best of Atlanta feature, here’s how it works:
Poll announced: Each Monday — beginning Jan. 13 — we'll announce the topic of the poll. We'll give you seven to nine choices from which to choose the best. If your favorite isn't on our poll, however, you can email nancy.clanton@ajc.com and nominate it. Place the Best of Atlanta category in the subject line, and if we receive enough write-in nominations, we'll add it to the poll.
You vote: Voting will last seven days. After the Jan. 13 vote, we'll start each week with the winner of the previous week's topic plus announce the new poll.
It’s that easy.
You can check out all the 2019 winners on ajc.com.
