Photos: Roswell house embodies hominess for holidays

Jennifer Stambek and Steve Stephens worked with Bane’s Impression LLC to remodel the main floor of their Roswell home in 2017, opening up the dining room to make the kitchen bigger and creating a new dining room out of one of the sitting spaces. Throughout her home Jennifer Stambek has many Christmas trees of varying sizes, and most of them, like the two on the kitchen island, have a theme. Jennifer Stambek combined bedding from Ballard Designs with pieces she made herself with fabric from Calico Corners to create a cozy bed in her upstairs guest space. Framed children’s christening gowns line on wall, fitting in with the fact that the room was designed for her grandchildren. Jennifer Stambek found the dressing table that sits in her guest room at an antique store, and she found the little white French chair at an antique store in California. In the family room stands the main Christmas tree of Jennifer Stambek and Steve Stephens’ home. The ornaments on this tree are sentimental ones and family pieces that they’ve collected throughout the years. Stambek created the magnolia flowers that festoon the tree with felt and pipe cleaners and added buffalo check ribbon to give the tree a consistent style. Text by Shannon Dominy. The “bunk room” in Jennifer Stambek’s home was designed for her grandchildren to stay when they come to visit. Open shelving and natural light make the family room of Jennifer Stambek and Steve Stephens’ home warm and inviting. Stambek designed the space to be comfortable, making sure each seat had a space for someone to put their feet up. Framing the TV above the fireplace are two windows that Stambek found, refinished, and had fitted with mirrors. These can slide together to hide the spot for the television. She decorates the windows year-round, and for the holidays she made wreaths that circle winter dioramas, for which she posted a tutorial to her blog, East of Waco. Text by Shannon Dominy. Sherwin Williams French Blue walls create a cooler, relaxed feel in the dining room of Jennifer Stambek and Steve Stephens’ home. The red hutch that dominates the room was Stambek’s first project piece. She bought it as bare wood and she and a friend painted and distressed it to make the focal point it’s now become. The table is from Ballards Backroom and the chairs are from TJ Maxx and Homegoods, all of which Stambek restained and topped with a white wax finish. Text by Shannon Dominy. In her last home, Jennifer Stambek backed her living room shelves with corks mounted to backing to create visual interest. In her Roswell home she took those boards and combined them to form the backsplash of the wet bar in the family room.
