Designed by Atlanta designer Michael C. Morris, this low-country Southern kitchen was in the 2015 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine’s designer show house in Serenbe. The centerpiece of the kitchen is the honed Pietre Gray marble island counter top, which sits atop custom-stained oak island cabinetry. In this Country Club of the South home with interior design by E.A. Star Interiors, a sitting room, kitchen and wet bar pack a great deal of functionality into one beautiful space.

Under-cabinet lighting highlights different areas of the kitchen based on where the homeowners are cooking or preparing their meals. At the other end of the main floor, the kitchen includes a cherry counter on one of the two islands and antique-look custom cabinets by Cabinet Design. The tile backsplash behind the stove was modeled on an old French design. The copper sinks are ornamented by rustic brass fixtures.

The kitchen's modern appliances blend in nicely with the brick accents and rustic decor found throughout the rest of the home.

Homeowner Joel Silverman made the open shelving in the kitchen from rafters salvaged from the house when he and his wife Rachel Silverman decided to renovate and add a second floor this year. Instead of traditional cabinets and counters, Michael and Jenniffer Marblestone designed a custom free-standing stained wooden cabinet that fits around their appliances and forms a barrier between the kitchen and stairway, without adding another wall.
