Broad Street was about to get a makeover and the Southern Bell building made it's debut. Steve Bartkowski was with the Falcons and Dominque Wilkins was at UGA. And the AJC profiled the Braves' No. 1 fan, Pearl Sandow, who was in her early 80s at the time. No. 1 Atlanta Braves fan Pearl Sandow in June 1981. she died in April 2006 at the age of 103. She attended 1,889 consecutive home games, every one of them from the franchise's first game in Atlanta in 1966 -- the year the Braves moved from Milwaukee -- to the last one in 1989, when her health declined.
