PHOTOS: Constructed from 1969-75, Colony Square is midtown Atlanta's oldest high-rise development. Here's a look back at the Southeast's first mixed-use complex.

1972 -- Original caption: "A business owner who weathered the influx of flower children on Atlanta's 10th Street 'strip' area and stuck it out until most left said she thinks it will take two more years to get major improvements started. Mary Mobley, owner of a picture-framing business on Peachtree, said things are 'better but we still don't have the walk-in traffic.' More Atlanta ice rink capacity will be available to local skaters on July 5 when the Colony Square Ice Capades Chalet opens its 8,800-square-foot floor. The rink is covered by a giant skylight.
