Another trip back to 1981, with shots of Braves manager Bobby Cox, Georgia coach Vince Dooley, a post-presidency Jimmy Carter and a few Atlanta spots that look very different from their current incarnation. Take a look back at Atlanta and Georgia as they were 40 years ago.

Harold Weinstein points to the new sign of his popular sandwich shop at 41 Forsyth Street, his third location. He was forced to move from the Olympia Building, which is in the heart of downtown at Edgewood Avenue and Peachtree and Decatur streets. This 19-story apartment tower and adjacent low-rise apartments on Ralph McGill Boulevard in the Bedford-Pine neighborhood was under construction in July 1981.

The Farlinger Building, 343 Peachtree St. NE, corner of Ivy St. (now Peachtree Center Avenue). A turn of the century luxury apartment building, known as the Frances Hotel when this photo was taken in August 1981, was going through hard times. Built in 1898, it was known as the Farlinger Apartments. It was torn down in 1988.
