Flashback Photos: 1946, 75 years ago in Georgia, Part One
Election drama isn't a recent development. See the case of Georgia's 5th Congressional District race in 1946, in which the victor received fewer votes than the losing incumbent. The Ford Motor Company plant in Hapeville and the Southern Bell Telephone Company building were going up in 1946, too. That was also the year of the Moore's Ford lynching, the notorious killing of two African American couples. No one was ever held accountable for their deaths.
