Some places run from their stereotypes. In Georgia, we embrace them.

And because we do, our state is getting a place in the national spotlight. Well, maybe the national flashlight.

The travel website TripAdvisor has come out with a list of the "10 Wackiest Summer Events" for 2011 and the Summer Redneck Games in East Dublin weighs in at No. 5.

According to TripAdvisor, "Travelers can get down and dirty in Dublin for this one-day event, which draws crowds of over 5,000 attendees each year. For those that don't find bobbin' for pig's feet appetizing, visitors can also participate in the hubcap hurl, mud-pit belly flop contest or even test their talent for tossing toilet seats in a round of ‘Redneck Horseshoes.' Winners in each event will receive a glistening, half-crushed, mounted beer can."

Circle July 9 on your calendar. Dublin's about an hour east of Macon, just off I-16. East Dublin is, of course, east of Dublin.
