OJ Simpson could be a free man this year, after serving more than 9 years of a 33-year sentence on burglary and kidnapping charges.
Simpson is scheduled for a parole hearing in July, according to the Reno Journal-Gazette. The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners is expected to set the date of the hearing sometime next month.
The Juice, now 70, is serving his time at a mid-level correctional facility outside of Reno, Nevada.
In 2008, the former NFL legend turned actor was convicted on a range of charges, including armed robbery, conspiracy to commit a violent crime and kidnapping, related to a 2007 incident at a Las Vegas hotel where he and several other men confronted memorabilia dealers and demanded mementos that Simpson claimed were stolen from him.
His conviction on the charges follows the so-called "trial of the century" in the 1990s when he was acquitted of the brutal murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. He was later convicted of the killings in a civil trial and ordered to pay more than $33 million to the families of Brown and Simpson.
