Photos: Man gets 5 years in prison for running dogfighting operation from Cherokee home

Under the Randall Larry Thaxton’s bed, investigators located a briefcase containing documents linking the defendant to dogfighting. The documents included workout regimens to prepare dogs for fighting, a catalog to order training equipment and medical supplies for treating wounds, sale contracts and a dog fighting creed pledging allegiance to the dogfighting community, Cherokee County District Attorney's Office said.

During the search warrant, a break stick was found hanging inside the Randall Larry Thaxton's kitchen, the Cherokee County District Attorney's Office said. Break sticks are typically used to pry open a dog’s jaws during a fight.

Miss Piggy was pregnant when officials executed a search warrant at the Cherokee County home. She later gave birth to nine puppies.

Firefighters assisted with cutting the logging chains used to tether the dogs.

Jack, believed to have been about 8 years old, had multiple masses on his stomach, shoulder and mouth, and issues with his paws.

A puppy, believed to be about 12 weeks when officials found him, was later name, Ravioli.

Brownie, thought to be between 2 and 3 years old, was found with abnormal teeth raw skin under the neck.

King Kong was between 2 to 3 years old when the county took him, and the veterinarian noted he had abnormal teeth and several scars on top of his neck.
