Major retailers are working to make sure deliveries arrive on time, if not earlier, this holiday season, The Associated Press reports.

Companies including Amazon and Wal-Mart are boosting warehouse space and staff to tackle the influx of orders that goes hand-in-hand with holiday shopping.

Amazon, known for free two-day shipping as part of its annual Prime membership, is even using robots to pull items off warehouse shelves to cut down on shipping time, the AP reports.

Wal-Mart is opening new warehouses across the U.S., including two in Florida, to handle the volume.

“This is going to allow us to be more efficient, to do it faster, to do it cheaper and be more accurate with the orders, which is important with the customers,” Greg Foran, Wal-Mart’s CEO of U.S. business, told the AP.

According to the AP, other retailers opening warehouses to boost shipping time include Target, Macy’s, Home Depot and Nordstrom.

The ultimate goal? Getting to that two-day shipping sweet spot pioneered by Amazon, the AP says.
