SunTrust Banks has switched up the leadership of its SunTrust Mortgage unit, naming Jerome Lienhard as the division’s new president and CEO.

Lienhard follows Sterling Edmunds Jr., who will become the mortgage unit's executive vice president over national sales and production. Lienhard joined SunTrust in 2006 as treasurer and most recently served as an executive vice president over strategic finance and administration.

Last month, Atlanta-based SunTrust said it found document problems  in about 4,000 active foreclosure cases. SunTrust has said it has taken corrective action.

A SunTrust spokesman declined comment beyond the news release.

In the release, SunTrust Consumer Banking Executive C.T. Hill called Lienhard a "dynamic leader," and said the company “will continue to benefit from [Edmunds’] strong sales and service skills as the mortgage industry evolves.”
