The CEO of Staples resigned from Home Depot’s board Thursday.

Ronald L. Sargent, who joined Home Depot’s board last year, did not cite any disagreement relating to Home Depot’s “operations, policies or practices,” the company said in a statement Friday.

Sargent’s resignation was effective immediately.

In the company’s 2011 proxy statement, Home Depot said Sargent’s expertise included retail finance, supply chain, human resources and operations matters. Sargent, who was 56 as of the April filing, has been CEO of the office products company since 2002 and chairman since 2005. He also worked for Kroger.
