CBS is planning to add about 100 new jobs in Sandy Springs.

The new positions would mostly be IT jobs and many would involve new hires, according to a person with direct knowledge of the deal. The New York-based company is expected to lease office space near Northside Hospital and the deal could be announced as soon as Friday, the person said.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the source was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. A CBS spokeswoman did not return several calls seeking comment and the Georgia Department of Economic Development declined to comment.

CBS has a broad portfolio that includes the television network, the Showtime cable channel, publisher Simon & Schuster and radio stations.
