Nfinity, a Midtown Atlanta shoe company, won an award for having the business innovation of the year among companies with fewer than 100 employees.

Founded in 2004, Nfinity won a so-called Stevie, awarded Monday in New York at the 2009 American Business Awards. Nfinity was recognized for developing athletic shoes specifically designed for women.

Its new technology, called BioniQ, addresses the angle between the hip and knee. The QAngle is more pronounced in women, increasing the likelihood of knee injuries in female athletes.

Nfinity, which started by designing shoes for the cheer market, is expanding into basketball and volleyball.
