Atlanta-based Roark Capital Group, a private equity firm, said an affiliate company has acquired a major provider of waste and recycling services in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The affiliate, Synergy Environmental Corp., acquired Ewing, N.J.-based Central Jersey Waste and Recycling Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Through its Premier Food Waste Recycling Inc. and Central Repairs Inc. subsidiaries, CJW provides non-hazardous solid waste collection, hauling and processing services to nearly 30 municipalities and about 1,000 commercial customers, Roark said. CJW also collects and transports organic and food waste products for commercial and residential customers.

Roark also owns Waste Pro USA Inc., GFL Environmental Corp., and Quala Holdings LLC.

In addition to environmental services, Roark specializes in investing in franchise, brand management and marketing services companies. Earlier this month, the equity firm announced an affiliate had made an equity investment in Anytime Fitness, a coed fitness franchise.

In December, Roark closed on its acquisition of a majority stake in CKE Inc., which operates Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. restaurants, with 3,413 locations in 42 states. Roark now owns 17 restaurant brands, including Arby’s, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Schlotzsky’s and Corner Bakery.
