RBC Bank on Tuesday named Jeffrey Scharps as regional president of retail banking for its central region, which includes Georgia and parts of North and South Carolina.

Scharps, who will be based in Atlanta, replaces Brian Repp, who has been named RBC’s vice president of customer experience.

Raliegh, N.C.-based RBC, a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Canada, is the seventh-largest bank by market share in metro Atlanta, with $2.58 billion in deposits and 52 branches, according to the FDIC.

Scharps will lead a market area with a total of 102 branches in three states. The former Wachovia Bank veteran joined RBC in 2009 and served as the regional manager of the bank’s South Florida market.
