AT&T has named industry veteran and Georgia Tech graduate Keith Holmes to head its operations in Georgia and South Carolina.

As vice president and general manager for both states, Holmes will oversee sales and operations in a region that has more than 1,300 employees and 82 AT&T-owned retail operations. He will be based in Atlanta.

“Keith brings tremendous talent to the table, with experience in nearly every aspect of the business, from network operations to retail management,” Kent Mathy, Southeastern regional president of AT&T Mobility, said in announcing the executive move.

Holmes had been vice president and general manager for South Carolina. He is also a former vice president and general manager of AT&T’s Georgia Mobility and Consumer Markets.

Keith was a starting cornerback at Georgia Tech, where he received a bachelor’s degree in management.
