Alpharetta-based Liaison Technologies, a worldwide provider of cloud computing and data management services, announced it has acquired data security firm nuBridges Inc. of Atlanta.
The combined company will employ about 250 people, most of them in metro Atlanta.
Terms of the deal were not released, but nuBridges had annual revenue of about $20 million, according to the companies. The nuBridges acquisition accounts for less than 30 percent of the total combined business.
"It's extremely complementary," Liaison Chief Executive Bob Renner said of the combination. While Liaison helps facilitate electronic communications between different types of companies, he said, nuBridges has focused on security and electronic data interchange.
"Those were areas Liaison has not focused on," Renner said.
The companies said the deal will "enable new solutions to help businesses move, transform and manage sensitive data quickly, securely and cost effectively across systems and organizations behind the firewall or in the cloud."
Industries using the company's services include life science, health care and financial services.
Liaison was founded in 2000 and nuBridges in 2001.
