Atlanta-based burger chain Krystal has named Omar Janjua as its new president and CEO.

Janjua, who has been in the quick service restaurant industry for 35 years, will take on the position Jan. 21.

“Krystal is a brand with a unique position in the marketplace that enjoys a special relationship with its guests,” Janjua said in a release. “I look forward to working with the team to expand the passion and loyalty that runs so deep in the brand history to a new and widening consumer base.”

Janjua most recently served as president of Sonic Restaurants and chief operations officer for Sonic Industries. Ha also has worked as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Steak ‘n Shake.
