Atlanta-based law firm Kilpatrick Stockton confirmed it closed its London office March 30 after the staff there dwindled from a peak of about 40 lawyers to just two.

Kilpatrick Stockton bought the office from Altheimer & Gray in 2003.

"We have determined that affiliations with full-service firms in the United Kingdom would better serve the interests of Kilpatrick Stockton and those of our clients," said firm co-managing partner Bill Dorris in a statement.

The 135-year-old firm has nine offices worldwide, with about 240 lawyers in Atlanta.

"It goes without saying that we remain fully committed to serving our clients' international needs through a continued international presence not only through United Kingdom affiliations but also through our recently opened Dubai office and longstanding Stockholm office," Dorris said.
