Hurricane Irene cut Delta profit by $15 million

Sept 6, 2011

Delta Air Lines said its net profit in August took a $15 million hit from Hurricane Irene.

The hurricane in late August caused Delta to cancel more than 2,200 flights. It affected operations at Delta's hub in New York, as well as in other cities the airline serves on the East Coast.

For the full month of August, Delta's passenger traffic fell 0.3 percent compared with the same month of 2010.
