Home Depot is making a $1 million donation to support Superstorm Sandy relief.

The Atlanta home improvement retailer’s foundation is giving money to the Red Cross, Team Rubicon, and Operation Homefront.

In addition to a Red Cross donation, Home Depot is donating 5,000 rakes, 5,000 shovels and 15,000 pairs of work gloves to the organization for cleanup in New York and New Jersey.

It is giving money to Team Rubicon to deploy specially trained military veterans who have unique skills to communities in the Northeast. Teams are already in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

And Operation Homefront provides food, clothing and shelter to service members and their dependents in affected areas.

The distribution of additional funds will be determined as damage is assessed.

Home Depot is also working with nonprofit groups and local authorities to send volunteers for cleanup efforts.
