A glass company plans to expand its operations in southeast Georgia and hire 125, the company and state officials said Tuesday.

Architectural glass maker Viracon plans to expand its plant in Statesboro, about 55 miles northwest of downtown Savannah, to keep up with demand from commercial construction projects on the East and Gulf coasts.

Minnesota-based Viracon makes various types of high-performance glass. The company plans to invest $2 million in the project, according to a state news release.
