The Georgia Tech Research Corp., the contracting agency for all sponsored Tech research, has sold its GT Strudl operations, a provider of structural engineering software, to an Alabama software company.

Financial terms of the deal with Birmingham-based Intergraph Process, Power & Marine were not disclosed. GT Strudl’s 10-member research and development team will also join Intergraph.

GT Strudle has been operation for 40 years, and its customers include power utilities, petrochemical companies, government agencies, among others.

The company’s software is used to design, maintain and upgrade civil engineering structures such as turbine and boiler buildings, offshore structures and pipe support systems. Intergraph provides engineering analysis software to the power, process and offshore industries.

GTRC, a not-for-profit corporation, licenses all intellectual property created at Georgia Tech, including patents, software and trade secrets.
