The state of Georgia will receive nearly $63 million in federal money for repairs to public housing.

The money will come in the form of a grant from $1.8 billion the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides through its Capital Fund Program. The program helps about 3,100 public housing agencies build, repair and renovate dwellings.

HUD said the country loses about 10,000 public housing units annually due to disrepair.
