Factory activity in Georgia remained steady in April, according to Kennesaw State University’s monthly report.

The so-called Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), which gauges expansion, hiring, productivity and more, notched its third consecutive month of healthy economic activity, said Don Sabbarese who directs the school’s Econometric Center.

“A wider group of manufacturers are experiencing growth,” he said. “This bodes well for the larger Georgia economy."

The PMI stood at 67.4 last month. Anything above a 50 demonstrates manufacturing growth.

A month earlier, though, the PMI hit 67.6. Various indicators, including production, employment and deliveries, decreased from March to April. Nonetheless, 52 percent of the survey’s respondents reported more new orders.
