Do you want to help improve the roads metro Atlanta drivers travel every day? The Georgia Department of Transportation is hiring. On Wednesday, August 3, the department will host a job fair to fill 30 entry-level maintenance positions. The pay starts at $9 an hour and the jobs are all in metro Atlanta.
Here's what you need to know about the job fair: It will take place on Wednesday, August 3 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Georgia DOT's Metro Atlanta District Office, located at 5025 New Peachtree Road in Chamblee. All applicants must be 18 years old or older, have a high school diploma or a GED and have a valid Class C driver's license. Dress is business casual and candidates are encouraged to bring several copies of their resume to give to hiring managers.
Qualified applicants will interview with human resource personnel on-the-spot and will receive a contingent job offer. New hires must obtain a Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within the first six months of employment.
"The Metro Atlanta District Office serves six major metro Atlanta counties. We maintain six major interstates and many state routes," said Wanda Essex, Metro Atlanta district human resource manager. "Therefore, we are seeking eager and dedicated applicants to maintain the roadways. New hires can receive health insurance, on the job training and 12-paid holidays a year."
