Your background, experience, resume, job description, work style, customer service and understanding K-12 and different types of media are among the major topics to be covered in an interview for those wanting to be a Georgia public school teacher, said Chief Communications Officer Matt Cardoza of the Georgia Department of Education.

Cardoza offered a sample that is "not standard for the entire agency." An interviewer would give a rating of 1 to 5, with 1 not meeting the standard and 5 exceeding requirements, he added.

Here are a few questions you may be expected to answer:

Background, experience, resume

Questions may include "What is the story of your journey?" and "What is motivating you to leave your current position?"

For each job on the person's resume, questions may be "What were the most enjoyable or rewarding aspects of this job?"; "What were the least enjoyable?" and "What was your greatest contribution?"

Job description

Questions might be "After reviewing the job description, what is your impression of what the position entails?"; "What do you see as the most significant responsibilities in this position?" and "Of which single event in your career are you most proud?"

Work style

A suggestion for interviewers of teacher applicants is: "Tell us about one of the biggest mistakes you've made, what you learned from that mistake and how it helped make you as good as you are."

Customer service

"What interests you most about this position?" is the suggested question for this category.

Understanding K-12 and different types of media

Questions are: "What's your level of understanding about the big issues in K-12 education?" and "Are you comfortable with all types of media (social media, video, etc.)?"
