Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines said it will resume its code-share partnership flights with Aeromexico, after the Federal Aviation Administration reinstated a Category 1 rating for Mexico's civil aviation authority earlier this month.

Delta said it will reinstate the code-share flights operated by Aeromexico, a partner in Delta's SkyTeam global alliance, effective Dec. 29. Code-sharing allows an airline to puts its code on another carrier's flight and sell the seats.

Delta had discontinued its code-sharing with Aeromexico earlier this year after the downgrade of Mexico's aviation authority to a Category 2 safety rating. A Category 1 rating is required for a U.S. airline to code-share with an international airline.
