Delta finalizes deal for investment in Aeromexico

June 6, 2012

Delta Air Lines has completed a deal to acquire a stake in Mexico's flagship carrier Aeromexico, making a $65 million investment.

After getting authorization from the Mexican Federal Competition Commission for the deal initially announced last year, Delta on Monday bought a nearly 4.2 percent stake in Aeromexico and gains a seat on Grupo Aeromexico's board of directors.

Atlanta-based Delta said the companies will share best practices to offer customers the same travel experience. The two airlines have a code-share marketing agreement and have a joint investment in maintenance facilities to open in Mexico next year.
