Construction spending up in August

The Department of Commerce said Monday that estimated construction spending in August rose.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for the year was $799.1 billion, 1.4 percent above the July estimate of $788.3 billion.

Though trending up, spending for construction during the first eight months of this year was $511.4 billion, which is below the $527.3 billion for the same period in 2010.
