Chick-fil-A is breaking more ground in Utah, on the way to opening about 80 new restaurants in the U.S. this year.

The opening in Logan, Utah last week came three months after the chain opened its sixth stand-alone restaurant in Utah. Chick-fil-A also plans to open stand-alone restaurants in Layton, Midvale and Sugar House within the next year. Chick-fil-A opened its first stand-alone restaurant in Utah in 2003 in Sandy.

"Chick-fil-A is fortunate to be able to continue to grow," said Dan T. Cathy, the company's president and chief operating officer.

Chick-fil-A estimates that its new locations will create nearly 4,500 new jobs. Last year, the company reached $3 billion in sales for the first time. In the first half of 2010, sales rose nearly 10 percent compared to the same period in 2009.
