Columbus-based Carmike Cinemas announced Monday it has signed a letter of intent to acquire three metro Atlanta movie theaters with a total of 40 screens, including some with 3-D capability. The theaters, which belong to MNM Theatres, are in Atlanta, Hiram and Cumming. Carmike did not disclose the acquisition purchase price. The theater giant expects to close on the deal in the later third quarter or early fourth quarter. When completed Carmike will have 25 theaters in Georgia.
